JUDGE EXPERIENCE.

The AIDA system of judge development has a flaw.

It does not measure true experience. There are heavier and lighter points - differentiated in A, B, C, D, E - even though the judge does the same thing: judging a performance according to the same rules.
Why should raising the card in front of a world record be more rewarded than in front of any other performance judged by exactly the same rules? Same rules in WC as in a national competition.

Proposed change:

Measure experience in a unit called Experience points (EP).

A system that reflects TRUE experience.

AWARD EP ACCORDING TO NUMBER OF PERFORMANCES JUDGED.
Every time a judge lifts a card he/she gains experience.

Award EP for:

- Pool competition 1 P/ performance
- Depth competitions 1.5 P/ performance
- Judge assistant/mentoring (side by side with "cardjudge") 0.5 P/ Performance
- Points per world record attempts (in individual record attempts) 5P/ attempt
Extra points for:
- Big complicated competitions ( for example: international standard) +0.5 P/Performance
- Every protests dealt with +5 P
- Award points for judges that competetes (very rewarding experience) 3P/ performance
- Award points for extra attendance at judge courses 15P

Only judges with a certain amount of EP points can judge: national records, world records e t c

Rough suggestion
National Championships >200P (suggested guideline)
National records: >300P (suggested guideline)
World championships: >500P + assembly vote
World record attempts: >700P (selection by a commission of 3-5 people of non active judges).
Judge instructor: >1000P + NR/NC EP + individualWR EP + WC EP + assembly vote

Pre requisites for judges:
Compeeted in all disciplines,
Been safety freediver at pool and depth competition,
Certain age.
Awareness and decisiveness.

It would off course be tricky to change from the old system.

"Guestimate"

E competitions - maybe assume that each comp consisted of 10 performances
D competitions - maybe assume that each comp consisted of 20 performances
C competitions - maybe assume that each judge had 30 performances
B Record attempt - easy countable
