More on:
The SP rule

Idea 1:
Why not grade the Aida judges after how many performances they have judged - not the amount of events they taken part in - since events can vary enourmously in size.

The amount of E judging should promote your growth into D, C, B,A judge.

Idea 2:
Do young healthy freedivers realy need to have a medical check every year? In some countries commercial divers <40yrs only have to do medical check up every 5 yrs.

Idea 3:
Due to the improvement of AB safety and handling of comp rope - a final AP could be delivered very close to official top. This will improve safety and competition drama.
QUALITY OF JUDGING

One advantage of a global organization like Aida is that athletes can compete anywhere in the world and get ranking compared with all athletes in the world. We are building a world federation. It also means that national aida countries are not in control of their own national records. Results appear on the aida ranking and is by that automaticly a new national record.

The quality of the competition and every result is checked by an aida judge. On their sholders rest the trust in the system we have created. But when the result appears in the aidaranking one can not see who the responsible judge was.

Problems
A national record can be done on the other side of globe, in a competition announced only a few days in advance with only one or two athletes compeeting. The judges can have been educated and approved only a few hours before the competition. And a pair of judges (Two are quired for a competition) can split up in two lanes and alone judge a performance.

It is a fact that becoming a judge is a question of paying the course fee. There is not many demands on an E judge. It is only with time and experience a judge can prove himself. It sometimes takes a strong personality to be able to flash that red card in the face of an athlete - for something that might be percieved as a minor thing by the athlete (or even the audience).
And it takes a calm mind and a sharp eye to see that all those details of a sucessful dive are there. And as we all know - there are many many aspects of a correct dive. Many rules to be aware of as a judge.

Sometimes an athele is not judged by two judges - only one. A scenario that have been seen on competitions is that during static/dynamic there are two lanes - but still only two level E judges present. A national record can be approved by only one inexperienced level E judge!

National records are becoming very serious. Not so easy to break them any more. They can stand for a long time. (On the WR arena we had a "two pull" CWT dive that lasted for many years). An incorrect judging can live a long time.

I propose the following:

1) National records have to be directly observed by two judges and one of them has to have judged at least 10 times before.
2) When judging deepdives one judge should always be in the water. Now enforced
3) Every result in our ranking should be linked to a judge. We should know who judged an athlete. This to empasize the personal responsability of the judge to do a good job. This also enables us to enquire afterwards about the event.
